Sidewalk Project Update – Girard Drive
We’re excited to share a video update of the ongoing sidewalk project along Girard Drive, now captured from a drone to show progress from above.
Two years ago, the City partnered with Louisville Metro District 7, Councilwoman Paula McCraney, and St. Albert the Great to install a sidewalk along the north side of Girard Drive between Westport Road and Graymoor Road. The goal was simple: create a safer path for neighbors and students walking to St. Albert’s.
The project was a success, with increased pedestrian use and positive feedback from residents.
We are now completing the remaining stretch between Graymoor Road and Crossmoor Lane, creating a continuous, safe walking route throughout the neighborhood.
What This Project Delivers
- A continuous sidewalk loop connecting Crossmoor Lane → Herr Lane → Westport Road → Girard Drive
- A 5-foot-wide sidewalk meeting ADA accessibility standards
- Improvements to long-standing drainage issues
- Safer pedestrian access across multiple parts of the neighborhood
Construction began in mid-February and is expected to be substantially complete in early April.
Thanks to efficient work by the contractor and project team, portions near Crossmoor Lane are already finished and open for use.
We encourage residents to take a walk and explore the new sidewalks.
